Welcome to SUBLIME STX

Our production facility is on beautiful St. Croix, in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The basic premise for our clothing line is that we’re all becoming more conscious of how much time we’re spending in direct sunlight. It’s a fact of life. As a kid I could bake in the sun for 6 hours and just tan. Now, no more than an hour and then the protective clothing and the hat come on. I cook.

So… if we have to cover up to stay healthy, we might as well do it comfortably and look pretty damn good at the same time.

Welcome to SUBLIME STX! My name is Bert Woodson.  Our production facility is on beautiful St. Croix, in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

We’re combining art and appreciation of aesthetics with practicality and health.

Our unique line features Ultraviolet Protection Factor 50+ clothing. The PURE-tech moisture-wicking fabric is treated with zinc to defend against odor causing bacteria. In fresh or salt water, take a swim and see how quickly your garment dries! They are lightweight and wonderfully comfortable.

Everyone enjoys art. We work with fine artists using digitized images of their original paintings and use them in the production of our clothing. Each artist has a selection of images in our catalog for you to choose from. Each artist’s style is dramatically different from the others. We’re keeping it interesting. Each garment you order generates a royalty for these outstanding artists. You’re wearing cool stuff and supporting the arts at the same time. Not bad…

-The Concept-

The basic premise for our clothing line is that we’re all becoming more conscious of how much time we’re spending in direct sunlight.  It’s a fact of life.  As a kid I could bake in the sun for 6 hours and just tan.  Now, no more than an hour and then the protective clothing and the hat come on. I cook.

So… if we have to cover up to stay healthy, we might as well do it comfortably and look pretty damn good at the same time.

-The Process-

Our clothing is produced using Sublimation Dyeing.  A digital image of the artwork is printed on special paper with special ink, both specific to this method.  The prints are allowed to dry and then go into a high pressure heat press, where the inks turn into a vapor and permeate the fabric. The design is permanently a part of the fabric, unlike traditional screening, where the image will eventually wear off.

Each garment is done individually, by hand, and not from pre-printed, mass-produced fabric..  A separate print is generated for each side of the garment and requires a separate run through the press for each side.  Results will vary minutely, but are considered a feature, rather than a flaw.

Colors are vivid and rich, and will remain that way.

We are currently offering our designs in long and shorts sleeve shirts, in men’s, women’s, and unisex cuts. Keep watching for gaiters, our killer rash guards, tank dresses, and one-piece bathing suits.  More to come!

  • Our clients seem to fit a certain profile
  • We are Travelers. Not Tourists. Having been in the travel/restaurant/hotel business, I have seen that there is a very distinct difference.
  • As Travelers, we don’t pop into a port on a cruise ship for a few hours or stay in a walled in all-inclusive resort. We like to hang out for a while and mix it up with the locals. Language and cultural barriers are not a problem. They are an opportunity to learn. We know that a smile and eye contact are our currency.
  • We are physically active. We enjoy experiencing the best and most challenging aspects of a travel destination. We are driven to try local cuisine (no matter how weird), and we jump at the chance to be included in a home invitation or just hanging out at the neighborhood bar imbibing in whatever the local specialty in the swill department might be.
  • Our clothing, and our clientele, are perfect for swimming, snorkeling, diving, windsurfing, kite boarding, sailing, water skiing, bicycling, yoga, kayaking, SUP, horseback riding, ATV’s, sport-fishing, --you get the picture.
  • When shopping, you’ll have the opportunity to “Meet the artist.” via a short video clip. Check them out. Interesting people in exciting places.
  • Check out our blog—“The Wandering Eye”. It’s devoted to travel and fun. Send photos of your adventures while wearing our stuff. Share your stories. We need to know what’s hot and what’s not in the travel and adventure world. This is what takes life from the mundane to the extraordinary!
